Ahoy Japanese Ransomites! I have been reading Swallowdale (Tsubame-Valley) and reading the Japanese book at the same time as the English. It is very difficult for me but a fun way to learn Nihon-go!
In the English book, whenever the children write to Mother they always say "love from ..." afterwards. This affectionate language has been removed from the Japanese version! I cant imagine why this kind of censorship has happened. Is it so unusual for japanese families to express affection in this way? Even "Love from Polly" has been changed to something like "Polly sends regards" (Polly ga yorashiku -- please excuse my bad Romaji spelling!)

Can anybody explain this please?
