Instructions for Epoch by Larry Miller Originally published by Sirius Software 1981 Prolog While on a routine patrol of the galaxy, you find yourself under attack by hordes of alien craft. Your standing orders are to destroy as many of the aliens as possible before you run out of time, ammunition or fuel. Basic Instructions Use the space bar to start the game The ESC key pauses the game At any time, Ctrl-R will return you to the logo Controls Steering your craft is accomplished by use of paddles or joystick. By typing a number 1 thru 5, you can increase or decrease the steering response to the paddles/joystick. By typing H or V, you can reverse the horizontal and vertical direction response to the paddles/joystick. Use paddle button 0 to accelerate and paddle button 1 to decelerate. Prudent use of steering, acceleration and deceleration will save fuel. Enemy bases, friendly bases, and time portals do not move; therefore, to approach these objects, you must have some forward speed. Enemy ships, on the other hand, will track you and attack regardless of your speed. Scoring To score a hit on an alien craft, you must place your crosshairs on the center of the target and press the space bar, or press both paddle buttons simultaneously. Enemy bases must be hit directly in the small white rectangle at their center. Refueling and rearming To refuel and rearm, you must fly directly through the small slot in the bottom pedestal of the green friendly bases. Time Warp You can go backward in time by periodically entering the very center of the time portals and then carefully flying down the time corridors. The amount of time you recapture is dependent on the speed at which you fly through the corridors; faster speed gains you more time. Additionally, the more you use the time portals, the more distorted each successive corrdor will become. Sound Sound effects may be turned on and off by pressing Ctrl-S. Special sound effects will indicate successful refueling, entry into the time portal, and when maximum time has been regained in the time warp. Point Schedule (see attached graphic file)
